Rock'em Sock'em Medieval Knights

This is a fun project that is made out of cardboard. It is kind of a throwback project. You might remember the Toy called "Rockem Sockem Robots".

Okay! Will is working on this tutorial right now. The bluprints and more will be posted soon. Book mark this page and check back soon!

The Template is ready and right here (pdf)

You make two knights. And then you face off against each other. You have a shield that you can raise to protect your own helmet. And you have a sword arm you can swing to try to knock off your opponents helmet! Watch the video here to see how it works:

The Basics of the game, the knight and how to play!!

Here is our knight! He has three functioning parts .

1. The popping head! This is the goal of the game. If your head gets struck by your opponent it will pop off and you lose!

2. The Swinging arm - This is how you attack your opponent, trying to pop his head off.

3. Your shield.- You can raise the shield up to protect your head from being attacked. But... when your shield is raised you cannot attack. It is in the way of your swinging arm. So you have to quickly lower your shield and take a swing at your opponent.

The completed striking arm

This picture shows you how to make the swing arm.

Notice the red/white string. It is attached at the point X. It then goes through the two black tubes. It will go down and attach to the strike lever (not shown in this pic)

Now when you pull the string the arm will extend much like your arm does. Picture the X being your wrist. And the rubber band pulls your arm back when you let go of the string.

If you have straws you can use pieces of them for the tube that the string runs through. If you don't have straws you can make tubes by peeling off the top layer of paper from cardboard. then rolling it on something thin like a paintbrush. Tape it completely. I used black electrical tape.

You operate the knight with two levers in the back. One lever raises your shield and the other lever swings your striking arm.
