How to Make a subhilt knife part 10: Finishing it

In this part of the tutorial we finish off the knife.

Part 1 of this tutorial is here

File the brass pins

Use a mill file to file down those pins to their final shape. Nice and perfectly flush with the wood of the handle. You don't want to feel any edges when holding the knife.

Do some final rasping

I also do a little bit of final rasping.

Do some final sanding

Then some sanding to finish it off.

polish the handle

Clean it up with a dry rag then polish the handle pieces with a polish of your choice. I like Tung oil. And multiple coats of tung oil with give it a really nice lustre.

And that's it, other than sharpening, your knife is done!
