How to recycle cardboard

One of the amazing things about corrugated cardboard is that much of it is recyclable.

Remove any packing materials from the box and strip away any plastic tape on the box then you can break it apart and follow your communities recycling rules.

The one exception being that if the cardboard gets wet. This ruins it. You can't recycle it. You have to dispose of it with your normal trash.

Corrugated cardboard is a strong force in the recycling world. It is estimated that 75% of all the boxes get put right back into the recycling stream to be made into boxes again.

There are factories in the world that handle solely the return of cardboard and the re-manufacturing of it into boxes and cardboard sheets.

Me? I like to keep a wide variety of it on hand for projects.

About Wax coated Cardboard: It is commonly used for fruits, vegetables and other foods. Regrettably it is not recyclable. So, cut it down, fold it down and dispose of it with your regular trash.

About Recycling and your local government: Recycling rules vary from community to community so you should contact your local city, town or county for exactly how to handle your recycling of cardboard. You should be able to find a website for your community.
