Playing Classical Guitar as a soundtrack for a video
I had been working on a new project which was a stop motion animation called Dragonslayer: Journey. It's a lot of work and a lot of fun. But I had no idea what I was going to use as the musical score for the piece. If you watch the video you will see that it has a definitely feel to it. A bit poignant or melancholy. Difficult to describe. I was thinking that something in a minor key would probably be right. Makes sense because of the feel of the video. Anyhoo, going through my sheet music I gave a piece a try and it was a perfect fit. Not too difficult to play and with a perfect sound, particularly for the final scene where the camera pans up to a starry sky. The piece is by Fernando Sor and it is Estudios Opus 35 Number 22 in b minor. Perfect! You may be familiar with this piece and it goes by the common name of "Moonlight Etude" not to be confused with Beethoven's moonlight sonata! Ok, If you want to watch the video and listen to the piece then it is right below. The actual guitar work doesn't start until around a minute and a half into the video. I have the Sheet Music if you want to learn this piece And, if you like this piece it is of course in the public domain and I have it as a free pdf download for you. This is the series of exercises in Sor's Opus 35. This particular piece is number 22 so just look for that one: PDF of Sor Opus 35, exercises 13-24
