The Creativity of it: Making Big Paper
I am going to follow two different paths with the creativity of this project. The first path is the overarching reason for making the paper. And in the second path I am going to talk a little bit about courage, learning and paper making. |
I am building a video studio to shoot youtube videos. This is how it looks so far. It is a wizard's lair. And it is a fun project. And of course a wizard's lair should have lots of stuff in it including maps! So that is where the big paper project comes from. It is going to be a fantasy map for the wizard's lair. I plan on putting where the blue poster board currently is. You can learn more about the wizard's lair here.
About paper making and courage It seems a bit of a stretch to assign "courage" to the craft of paper making. And maybe it is a bit strong. But it kind of gets my point across. I have been wanting to make paper for a long time! It has been on the list forever. But, I haven't made the commitment to doing it. I thought it would be complicated and a lot of work! So I bought a couple of books and read through them. That's what I usually do. And well, to be honest after I finished the books I still had the impression that it was a complicated and challenging. Until I started, and just went ahead and started doing it. I broke it down into simple steps, made the equipment (Mold and deckel) myself and son of a gun. I made some paper. I did more, And then did more. It is a whole lot of fun! And breaking it down I could see that it actually is a pretty easy process. No big deal! Here is the process,
Seems pretty easy doesn't it? And this is often the story with courage. The imagined dragons are often much larger than the actual dragons. I think its a kind of Don Quixote thing. If you want to get started very easily making paper my tutorial for beginners is right here:
