Make Easy Miniature Christmas Trees

Will is working on this tutorial right now. But the template is ready for you to download right here: Miniature Christmas Tree Template

This is an easy miniature tree project that is great for kids and adults of all ages. You don't need a lot of supplies and it will work very nicely with corrugated cardboard.

I also have a youtube video for this project at the bottom of the page.

Download and print up the christmas tree template. (right here)

Cut out the desired tree size, place it on foamboard or cardboard and trace two of them.

Notice that runway looking section going right down the middle of the tree. We need to trace that too.

Trace that runway onto your trees and mark it as shown in the next picture. The bottom half of it is blacked out on one tree. And the top half of it is blacked out on the other tree . This is how we will cut them out. The blacked out parts get cut out.

Here you go. Cut them out and this is how they should look.

Note that if you are using cardboard for this project you might want to make your slots a little bit narrower. Ideally the slots are the same width as the thickess of the cardboard.

Now, slide them together. THey should form a snug fit. If they are loose you can go ahead and add a dab of glue.

It looks great! Go ahead and make some more of them! Try the different sizes too.

Go ahead and paint it up!! Have fun!!!

They even look good unpainted.

The tools and products I use in this tutorial:

Foam board

Elmer's Acid-Free Foam Boards, 20 x 30 Inches, 3/16-Inch Thick, Bright White, 2-Count (902015)

If you are looking for high quality, archive quality or you are looking for a backing for photographs you should use an acid free foam board It is more expensive per sheet though. (Note: For this project you don't need these large sheets. You can get smaller sizes on amazon or you can even find them in Walmart. )

X-acto designer series knife #1 blade - This is my favorite x-acto knife and I have used them all. I like the comfortable feel of the handle and I really like that the far end of the knife is how to tighten/loosen the blade. It's really very nice and much safer.
