Make a Viking Shield Part 3

In this part of the tutorial we finish the shield by painting it.

 

Mask off for painting

You have your choice of how to paint it. You can make it simple or make it very ornate. Whatever you want. I went for a simple pattern. All I have to do is add red to the face of the shield. Then I will do the boss and banding in gold.

I cut a hole in a sheet of poster board then laid it over the shield. This was to protect the shield while I painted the boss gold.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mask and paint the edge

The I painted the iron banding gold.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And that's it! Your shield is done.
