How to Make a Wizard's Pipe - Part 2: Baking the clay

In this part of the tutorial we bake the polymer clay.

part 1 of this tutorial is here

Lay down a bed of flour

Put a bed of flour on your oven safe pan or tray and place the pipe on it.

Cover the pipe in flour

And then cover the pipe in flour.

Put it into the oven

And put it in the oven.

We baked our pipe for about six minutes.

*Will's Tips on Polymer clay: Follow the directions that come with the polymer clay you are using. Typically you set the oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit and you bake it 15 minutes per 1/4 inch (6mm) . Our pipe is generally 1/8 inch thick so we baked it for around 6-7 minutes. You can always check it for hardness/softness after about 5 minutes. And either remove it or bake a bit more.

Brush off the loose flour

Once it is done remove it from the oven and brush off the flour.

Sand it

Once it has completely cooled you can touch it up with a light grit sand paper if you feel it needs it. This is one of the great things about polymer clay - it can still be worked after it is hardened.

Next Ok! Let's continue with the tutorial
