This is part 2 of the tutorial on how to make the DragonAge Inquisition helmet.

Cut a strip of cardboard one and a half inches wide and glue it right down the center of the helmet from the forehead to the back of the head like you see here.

This is optional - you can duct tape over that cardboard strip to smooth it out. The corrugations in the cardboard may be a bit crinkly and the duct tape makes it look better.

Now we are going to make a brim around the edge of the helmet. Fold a sheet of newspaper like this, several times over, so it is about an inch and a half wide.

Tape it to the helmet around the edge like this. It sticks out about a half inch beyond the edge of the helmet.

While you are doing it you bend out that half inch that sticks out so it forms a brim like this.

Now glue a series of cereal box pieces like this around the inside of the brim. Stick these out a little past the newspaper brim. This will make the brim a little larger and a lot stronger. Do this all the way around the helmet.

Now do the same thing except now as an outer layer of the brim. Do this all the way around the helmet.

Once you finish both the outer layer and the inner layer around the brim you can cut it with scissors to give it a nice shape and look.

ok! This picture shows the brim is complete and trimmed and it looks great. And we have started to cover it with masking tape. Go ahead and cover that whole brim with masking tape all the way around.

Next you cut out the side piece template and trace two onto cereal box cardboard. Tape them onto the helmet like this, one on each side. But don't tape that inner edge. It gives the helmet a good look. Check out the next page to see a little detail about these pieces.
