The Mini Wargaming Ebook on
Miniature Painting

When it comes to tabletop wargaming, making dioramas and collecting miniatures one of the absolute best things about it, in my mind, is the painting of the miniatures. This is one of the fun aspects of the hobby. I really enjoy it. And it is something that is an acquired skill. It takes time to learn and it takes time to get better at it. Eventually you can paint some absolutely remarkable miniatures - but you have got to know the tricks and techniques that the masters use. And this is where the MiniWarGaming ebook comes in.

If you search around online for a book on miniature painting you know that there really is not much out there. So this is where the folks at miniwargaming have stepped in and filled the void. They have a new ebook out that teaches you the solid techniques of painting miniatures. Simple as that, and being an ebook means you can get it right away.

What's in the book?

The book has 5 chapters and is 59 pages in length. It covers all of the basics of miniature painting such as an explanation of colors and the color wheel and a look at brushes, and how to select them and care for them.

The book takes you through the steps of painting miniature which includes priming then it covers the important (and great looking) techniques of drybrushing, washing and highlighting. These three techniques are the staple of any miniature painters arsenal.

Some specifics in the book

There are three areas that this book covers that I think are really important. First off the writers take a look at painting miniatures that are supposed to be metallic, which is very important if you do a lot of science fiction or futuristic miniatures. Second they take a look at painting scales which is something often overlooked but so very critical if you want monsters and creatures to look good. And another thing they cover is metallic armor and how to make it look good. This right here is where it is at for me. And I would imagine for anyone who wants to paint miniatures. Who is not going to have knights and figures in armor in their collection?

Some important stuff

One of the most important things about painting miniatures, and something that is almost never covered is the art of getting dirty and weathering!! This is the art of painting your miniatures so that they look real! Its not too hard to paint a miniature with bright colors so it looks great but.... there is a sense of realness when your mini has some wear and dirt on his clothing and armor. This technique is an art and they cover it very well in this ebook. They look at the cloak that was painted in an earlier chapter and they show you how to dirty it up so it looks like something that has been worn. Nice.
