How to Make Miniature Trees Part 2: The Foliage

In this part of the tutorial I show you how to use a kitchen sponge to make the foliage on the tree.

I will show you several different and pretty neat techniques.

Part 1 of this tutorial is here

The first, and easiest technique is to simply cut a piece of the sponge into the shape of the foliage.

Once the glue has completely dried on the tree trunk we can work with it.

Trim the ends of the branches to remove any excess paper.

Apply some glue to the end of the branches and you can then glue it right to your sponge foliage.

I cut the ends of those branches to points. They will actually stick right into the sponge. This helps hold it while it all dries.

Here is another technique you can use. Cut shavings off the sponge with a pair of scissors. They smaller they are the better it will look.

Apply a liberal amount of glue to the branches.

Then Dip it in the shavings.

It looks good. If it needs a bit of filling out you can add more glue then dip again or add more glue and manually add pieces.

NextOk, I have a couple more really nice techniques for you. (continue)
