The Krave Poutinerie

Until this food truck showed up in the city I had never heard of "Poutine".

Curiosity got the best of me and I had to try it.

It is a Canadian food that is typically a dish of french fries topped with cheese curds and gravy.

And as an American I envisioned cheese curds as something like cottage cheese. But it is nothing like cottage cheese. Cheese curds is more like a thick noodle and very similar to a german Spatzle.

It is a very mild cheese curd that is flavored by the fries and the gravy. Think of the curd as an very simple palette.

And, well, it is amazingly delicious.

I have eaten here twice so far and will be visiting again. But for now I am just working my way down the menu. (shown below)

On my next visit I will take pictures of the food so you can get a look at Poutine if you are not familiar with it.

On my first visit I ordered the first item, figuring it is a good representation of Poutine. It is the Krave's Original. This gave me exactly what Poutine is.

On my second visit I had the second item on the menu (The Mac Daddy). And it was amazing. Really. But, be warned! Poutine is not a light meal. It is a comfort food and very heavy. So, don't think of it as light fare. Think of it as a big meal.

It's an amazing comfort food that they probably have been enjoying for the past 100 years in those cold Canadian winters. And I believe they have large festivals revolving around Poutine.

Okay! I visited again and this time I got pictures of the Potaine. (Below)

Here is the basic poutine. First on the menu. (Krave's Original) It is Cheese curds, french fries and brown gravy.
