Marzilli's has been a regular stop for my family for more than a generation. It is called a bakery with the sub-title of "Grinder Shop", but you really have to think of it more of a grinder shop. That is what they specialize in. And they do it so very well. They bake the bread for the sandwiches right there in the bakery. So that's why it's called a bakery. And you can buy any of their variety of breads. But they are renowned for their grinders. And, according to the sign out front they were established in 1918, so, for a place to be around for over 100 years you know it has got to be really good.... and it is! You can visit their website here: Marzillis.com

The word "Grinder" is a bit of a local New England word. For other parts of the country a grinder is also referred to as a "Hoagie", a "Submarine", or a "Hero". All the same! I have a couple of pictures of the Grinder that I bought so you can see. I grew up in a household with four childen so there would be a lot of italian grinders on the table. And they come with either sweet or hot peppers and that was a fun aspect. We would just order all the grinders with both hot and sweet peppers on the side! They come in little plastic containers and I would mix them both into MY grinder! The Italian Grinder with sweet peppers. I posted this copy of their menu in July 2025, so give consiration to the fact that prices will vary and change over time.
