Over the course of three weeks New England got three pretty good snow storms. Each one accumulated more snow on the city. And the third storm was actually a blizzard that dumped about three feet of snow on us.

So of course the city was shut down. And it has been kind of fun. On the day after the blizzard I went for a walk through the city with my camera in hand.

Now I couldn't actually walk much of the city because a lot of it is impassable! But, I did what I could. And along the way I chatted with a lot of people. The feel and atmosphere was pretty optimistic.

In some respects it remined me of the blizzard of 78. But the big difference is that for that blizzard we had no warning at all - it just happened really fast and it caught everyone by surprise. People were abandoning their cars on streets and highways.

This time we had plenty of advance warning so people were much more prepared. And the big thing now is the work and the inconvenience of shoveling out the mess.

This guy managed to get to an open store and get himself a full backpack of necessary supplies! He should be good for the next few days!!

Everywhere I walked I saw people of all ages tackling the task of moving snow. And there were lots of people working together in groups. The overall disposition was "It is what it is" so let's just get it done!

We're gonna need a bigger snowblower!
