Korean Janggi is a board game that is very similar to Chess and it is directly derived from Chinese chess. This project is an approximate replica of an actual 100 year old Janggi set that is in a museum. The museum is the University of Durham Oriental Museum located in the UK.

I have a complete video tutorial (Bottom of Page) showing you how to make this project and it includes variations that you can make including a simple playing board on paper with paper parts and a more complete setup that includes a small box to hold the parts and a chest to store various things in. I also have the simple two page template for you to download. It includes the playing field and all the parts. You can print them up, cut them out and play!
Some interesting differences between Janggi and Chess/Checkers. Chess and checkers are played with the pieces placed within the squares. With Janggi the pieces are placed on the intersections. And the chess/checkerboard is symmetrical. It is eight squares by eight squares. With Janggi the board is asymmetrical. It is eight squares by nine squares.
