Four Different Size Carboys

.

I got an email from a web visitor and mead maker. He has a variety of glass carboys including a 2 gallon carboy which is rather interesting and I think pretty rare! Anyway I asked him to send me some pictures and he did.

I really love the two gallon size. I think it is practically the perfect size for mead making. You can get about 8 bottles of wine out of this and if you are making a fruit mead you are still going to get quite a lot of mead. With a 1 gallon carboy you lose almost one bottle!

This 2 gallon carboy seems to be rather rare and if you have one, or if you have any information about them be sure to send me an email! I and the owner would love to hear about it.

Here is a picture of his carboys from left to right

Note: I got an email from a web visitor (Ken) who managed to find a source for 2.5 gallon glass carboys. Kind of neat, good looking carboys. My thanks to him for letting me know about these and here is a link to where you can buy them: 2.5 gallon glass carboys

Note: I got an email from somebody who actually scrounged up a two gallon demijohn! Wow! And he sent me some pictures. Here is what he says about finding it: The vessel was acquired from High Heavens Recycling Centre in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire

If you can shed some light on this wonderful demijohn be sure to send me an email!

It has the names on it "Orpington" and "Ward":

If you have never made mead and would like to give it a try very inexpensively this is a terrific setup. Very inexpensive and Prime shipping too. You get a gallon glass carboy an airlock and the rubber stopper. I love this setup. Fermenter including Rubber stopper and Airlock

You can have a batch of mead going the day this arrives.
