Review: Four Lyme Bay Meads

Lyme Bay Winery is the producer of a line of high quality drinks including wines, liqueurs, meads, and more.

They are located in the UK and stormthecastle has a reviewer in the UK (Paul Hughes) who was kind enough to taste these meads and write these reviews. Thanks Paul!

If you want to learn more about their meads, or even order some, visit their website here: Lyme Bay Winery

Tasting started with the Rhubarb Mead.
I found this was very light in taste and the Rhubarb provided a nice delicate flavour. Company recommended blue cheese, terrines, ice cream or fruit based desserts as an accompaniment. All in all a very nice Mead.

Black Cherry
This Mead was smooth with the stronger flavour of the cherry coming through. Recommendation of dark chocolate, rich type desserts or as an accompaniment to steak.

Garden Mead with Mint
again smooth medium  sweet taste which left a fresh mint taste lingering on the palate. Recommended accompaniment to any dessert or just chilled over ice.

Traditional Mead - I found this Mead to be less harsh than previous traditional blends I had come across. Very smooth, sweet yet none of the 'burn' that often lingered in other blends. Recommended accompaniment to strong cheeses and full flavoured casseroles.

All these blends were purchased locally from 'the Chuckling Cheese company' In Middlesbrough United Kingdom.

I shall enjoy 'demolishing' these meads over the New year period!

A note from Will

You really should check out the Lyme Bay website for their meads. They have some truly remarkable flavors including
Traditional, Black Cherrry, Rhubarb, Garden Mead (fresh mint overtones), Chilli Mead, Tournament Mead (Dark and Sweet), Christmas Mead, and a Moniack Mead which is produced at Moniack Castle in the Scottish Highlands!
