Book Review:
Isaac Asimov's Ancient Astronomy

Browsing through the shelves of my local library I ran across this old book by Isaac Asimov.

When Growing up I was a big fan of Asimov. I read a lot of his writing. It was great to run across this book.

The audience for this book is Young Adult. It takes an easy and simple view of astronomy as it was thought to be practiced by ancient people.

Book Cover: Ancient Astronomy

We have this understanding of Ancient Astronomy though a few different methods including the written word, mechanical instruments like the astrolabe, paintings, and most importantly through ancient buildings and structures that still remain today.

The book takes a short yet interesting look at astronomy from all over the world in ancient times including Babylonian, Arabian, European, Egyptian and Mayan.

It brings us through the millennium right up until 1609 when Galileo turned the first telescope toward the night sky.
