Shuri Castle and Himeji Castle Have you heard of the movie "The Ring". It's about a horror that comes out of a well. And it is based on a story about a well outside one of these castles. Yup. Really. I have pictures of the well and more about the legend. |
Shuri Castle
Himeji CastleHimeji castle is the "White Crane" castle. And was given this name because of its color and beauty. There is also legend around the well for this castle. And a popular horror movie was loosely based on it.
Here is the well outside of Himeji castle that the movie "the Ring" is based on. This is Okiku well. It tells of a story of a young woman who refused a forced marriage, was betrayed and eventually killed by being thrown down this well. She was first framed for stealing a valuable plate from a set of ten. Something she didn't do. Legend says that now her ghost haunts the well and she can be heard counting plates.
