Julian Bream - The Ultimate Guitar Collection Volume 2

Review of the CD

Julian Bream has been one of the premiere classical guitarists of the last several decades and I have always liked his work. He plays very crisp and clear. And he has done quite a few different works for television which is a nice example of how the tube can bring a bit of culture to us.

Julian Bream: The Ultimate Guitar Collection-Volume 2

A little about the CD

The title of this CD is "The Ultimate Guitar Collection and that is what it is all about. It doesn't stay within one genre of guitar work. It crosses many genres from Baroque to modern Spanish and there are works by Bach, Vivaldi, Sor, Villa-Lobos and more. There are twenty pieces in all and for the most part they are all solo guitar. But there is some lute work and a bit of chamber music that accentuates the guitar without overpowering it.

Opinion: I really like the CD and It showcases the range of the guitar well. And, while I am a huge fan of CD's that have only solo guitar works on them this one uses just a bit of lute and chamber orchestra to accentuate the guitar perfectly. It is a nice addition to my collection.
