Diorama Man

Woodland Scenics terrain materials

Woodland Scenics Makes the best terrain materials. They range from very fine for turf and grass to very thick materials for bushes and trees.

This has been the standard for decades and it works very well for dioramas and for model railroads.

Turf and Textures

Note from Will: I love this terrain material and use it all the time for various project and in particular for my dioramas. Amazon.com has a whole lot of Woodland Scenics stuff: More Woodland Scenics Materials Here

Available on Amazon.com: Fine Turf Shaker, Green Grass

Comes in Shaker. Ads texture and highlights to trees and scenery. Available in six realistic colors, which model fresh, scorched and dying grasses, weeds and dirt roads. This is perfect for laying out grass on your diorama or terrain. You just brush or spray white glue onto the surface and sprinkle this on. This container holds a lot of material so you will get a lot of terrain coverage out of it.

Blended Turf Shaker, Earth

Comes in Shaker. Ads texture and highlights to trees and scenery. Available in six realistic colors, which model fresh, scorched and dying grasses, weeds and dirt roads. This is great for making grassy/dirt areas

Static Grass Flock, Medium Green

This has more texture and bulk than the turf.

Static Grass Flock is a fiber product that models grass or weeds on any layout. It is available in six colors and can be used alone, or with Fine Turf. Place under trees or along ditches. It can also be used as forest litter.

Bushes, Light Green

Models medium-to-large ground cover. It is great for landscaping hillsides. Create shrubs, bushes and trees with five colors and a fall mix.

You can glue these small pieces to terrain to make bushes and rough terrain, or do it in groups to form areas of bush and brush.

Deciduous Tree Kit, Small (36)

You make small trees with this kit. Comes with plastic armatures and flockage material that you glue to the armatures. Also has bases for the trees.

Value Trees, Green Mix 3-5" (14)

These trees are already made for you.

No assembly required! These ready-to-plant trees lend authenticity to any layout or diorama. Natural colors and realistic texture simulate nature and blend with other Woodland Scenics landscaping products. For ultimate realism, plant trees in clusters and intermix foliage colors. For more detail, spray with Scenic Cement (WOOS191) and highlight with Fine Turf in lighter or darker shades. Attach to layout with Hob-e-Tac (WOOS195) or Scenic Glue (WOOS190).

Realistic Water

Realistic Water, 16 fl oz

Perfect for making lakes, ponds and waterways. This stuff is the easiest to use. It takes overnight to dry and you will probably need to do several layers depending on how deep you want your water to be.

Field Grass, Light Green

This is perfect for making stalks and clumps of grass. It really looks good and adds realism. I have a tutorial on how to use this here: Make Tufts of Grass

Rock Mold, Boulders This is a rubber mold. You cast plaster or hydrocal into it and it makes rocks for your terrain. They have a lot of different shapes and sizes of these molds.

Soft Flake Snow Shaker

This is what you use to make snow on your terrain.
