Visualization

I use the technique of visualization to manifest things in my life. My bookshelf is a good example of this. When I built the bookshelf I had this image in my mind that I would leave a special spot open (between two book ends). And in this spot I would put my novel when it was finished and published. Almost every day I would see this and I would pause to visualize in my minds eye my several copies of my novel standing neatly between the bookeneds.

It happened. I finished and published the novel and I put ten copies of it between the bookends. You can now see that the bookends are once again empty. I am currently visualizing my second novel. Ten copies will of course fill the empty space between the book ends.

Technique of visualization in times of stress

In times when I need to center myself and find peace I have a visualization trick that I use. I go to a place called Castle Meersburg. It is a very old castle in Germany that I visitied many years ago. It was built around the year 700 so it has stood tall and strong for a very long time.

There is one particular room in the castle that struck me. It was a main dining room -very long and narrow with a large wooden table.

In times of high stress in my life I visualize myself going into this castle and sitting down at the table. (I can still see the room and the table very clearly in my minds eye). While there I contemplate the nature of time and how everything is temporary so the stress too will pass. I contemplate the strength of the castle and I absorb some of it into my self. This really works wonders.

These are just two examples of the power of visualization. You can use visualization to help yourself in many different ways. Your brain can't tell the difference betweeen a visualization and a "real" event.

If you want to visualize yourself driving in a Ferrari then go ahead. Make it as vivid as you can; feel and smell the leather, feel the stick and the pedals. Hey you never know what might come of it!

PS I will be scanning and adding a picture of Meersburg Castle to this page so check back again.

I will also be adding a picture of me driving a Ferrari. -as soon as that visualization is completed!
