Things Hidden

Five - May 28 (Memorial Day)

May 21I planted some seeds today; mostly various vegetables and I realize that this is quite an odd thing to do in todays world. Nobody plants from seeds any more. Everybody gets starter plants. I really do think it is better to start from seeds.

Anyway here is my thought for today.

While I was digging little furrows and poking little holes for the seeds the thought occurred that nothing was coming to me - no great insight on life or gardening. Then of course this created a train of thought...

Why do we feel the need to always be thinking, creating, doing, making and the like?

Isn't it ok to not have any grand thoughts or ideas. Isn't it ok to just be? After all we are human beings and not human doings.

My cat came out with me and just lay on the sidewalk and watched me plant. I wonder what was going through his mind. I imagine it was something like this: "What are you doing? Can't you see it is just a beautiful day? Enjoy it!
