Here is an image called Ginnie and painted by Adel Radwan. This painting shows a very important aspect of the visual arts- the use of color to express emotion. In this case the background is black and can you see how that accentuates the dark character of the Ginnie? This also very strongly compliments and works with the red of her lips and eyes. The use of basic black and red here make for a very dramatic composition. Think about the use of color as an indicator of mood or emotion when you are doing your artwork.
